The Federal Government has fulfilled its 25-year old pledge to former Super Eagles coach Clemens Westerhof.

The Federal Government had pledged to give the Dutchman a house for winning the 1994 AFCON, and it was redeemed on Monday at the Federal Ministry of Works, Power and Housing headquarters in Nigeria.

Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Babatunde Fashola presented Westerhof with a Letter of Allocation to a Federal Government House to the former Head Coach and Technical Adviser.

TheCable reports that Fashola thanked Westerhof for his services saying that “we are proud that he has come to receive the documents alive.’’

The minister added that the house is under renovation and will be giving to Westerhof once it’s ready for occupation.

Westerhof thanked the government for what he called a surprise, saying: “I am thankful to you all, and now I can feel myself more of a Nigerian now. I can now stay here when it is so cold back there in Europe.”

He continued: “I also thank God for this blessing of being invited here today to collect my papers. I hope I will soon get my keys, because you never know with Nigeria.’’
