El-Rufai wins Kaduna Governorship Election

The Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai has been declared the winner of the state governorship election which held on Saturday.

The returning officer of the state, Professor Mohammed Bello said El-Rufai polled 1,045,427 votes to defeat his closest rival, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Isa Ashiru who polled 814,168.

According to Punch, El-Rufai won in Kudan, Kauru, Sabon Gari, Markafi, Kaduna South, Igabi, Birnin Gwari, Zaria and Kaduna North local government areas.

Ashiru on the other hand, won in Kajuru, Kaura, Zanga, Kachia, Jaba, Zangon Kataf, Chikun, Jema’a and Kagarko LGAs.

The PDP candidate lost his Kudan Local Government Area where he scored 22, 022, to El-Rufai, who scored 28, 624.
