Binta Garba, Only Female Senator from Northern Nigeria loses Election

Senator Binta Garba, a first-time senator and the only woman in the Upper Chamber from Northern Nigeria has lost her re-election bid.

Garba, who contested under the APC, was defeated by Ishaku Abbo of the PDP in the Adamawa North senatorial election.

Garba, a former House of Representatives member between 1999 to 2011, polled 63, 219 votes against Abbo’s 79, 37 votes.
