Richard Akindele, the former Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) lecturer sacked for demanding sex from a student, has been sentenced to jail.

Akindele had earlier on Monday changed his not guilty plea to guilty, after reaching a deal with the prosecutor.

Shogunle Adenekan, prosecutor for the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC)had stated that Akindele agreed to serve a 2-year suspended sentence.

The judge, therefore, sentenced Akindele to a 2-year suspended sentence, meaning the former lecturer will be on probation and avoid jail as long as he fails to commit another offence during the 2-year sentence.
