Bisi Alimi has criticized female presidential aspirant, Ms Oby Ezekwesili for saying that as a Christian she doesn’t subscribe to gay and lesbian life choices.

Ms Ezekwesili made this statement at Chatham House in the UK. Bisi Alimi, who was present, asked her a question about the discrimination he suffered as a gay man in Nigeria.

In reply, Ms Ezekwesili said she believes in equal rights and opportunities for the LGBTQ+ people in Nigeria but that as a Christian, she doesn’t subscribe to their way of life. She also took to Twitter to explain her statement after it was misconstrued.

Bisi, who is an outspoken gay rights activist, criticized her for her stance. He said religion is a choice but sexuality isn’t and Ms Ezekwesili cannot rule a secular state with her religion.
