Recently, an interview where the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Director-General Shuaibu Ibrahim allegedly said Corps Members may be mobilised to fight war was trending on social media.

As a result of the several reactions the news received, NYCS has officially released a statement on Facebook, saying that “General Ibrahim never at any point said that Corps Members are being mobilised to fight war.”

The statement was to clarify the “misrepresentation”, and confirm that the DG charged Corp members to “remain focused and patriotic,” as they are “like soldiers on reserve, because their education, exposure and sophistication, can make them easily adaptable to military training.”
