You’re Never Going to Make it as a Singer, Seyi Shay Breaks Heart of 17-Year-Old Nigerian Singer

– Singer Seyi Shay has gained a reputation as the bluntest judge on the current season of Nigerian Idol

– The singer’s brutal feedback to a 17-year-old contestant fetched her heavy backlash on social media

– Under the guise of ‘tough love’, Seyi told the young boy that he had a terrible audition and would never make it as a singer

Nigerian singer Seyi Shay has sparked mixed reactions in the online community following her feedback to a 17-year-old boy who auditioned to be a part of the current season of Nigerian Idol.

Seyi who is quickly gaining a reputation as the bluntest judge on the show which also has Obi Asika and DJ Sosay as co-judges, was not impressed by the young man’s attempt at singing and she made no effort in sugar-coating her feedback.

The Irawo crooner told the young man that someone close must have lied to him by egging him on to try out the audition.

Seyi said to the boy:

“That person, you should go back and tell them that they are not your friend.”

However, that was not all she had to say to the contestant. Seyi while hiding under the guise of ‘tough love’ noted that he would never make money as a singer.

In her words:

“I love you, you are so sweet but you are not a singer.”

If it was any consolation, the judge told the young man that he has a good talking voice.
