Barkin-Ladi Celebrates Hon. Jock Alamba Appointment

It was a joyful moment on Monday, September 14th, 2020 at the Council Chambers of Barkin-Ladi Local Government Council as the newly sworn-in Management Committee Chairman, Hon. Jock D. Alamba took over the mantle of leadership of the Council.

The people of the Local Government Area applauded Governor Simon Bako Lalong over the appointment of the new administrator. The event drew people from all works of life includes Elders/Stakeholders in the LGA, Women/Youth groups, CAN, JNI, trade unions, Party leaders and supporters.

The people said that with Hon Jock Alamba, the LGA is opened for massive grassroots development and economic empowerment of the rural dwellers. According to them, the new Management Committee chairman has all what it takes to turn around the fortune of the LGA, adding that new administrator is a God fearing man, that believes in sincerity.

In his handing over speech, the out gone acting Chairman and Secretary of the Council Hon. Captain Rwang Dusu called for a minute silence in honor of the late Mandyau who died on July 2nd, 2020.

Hon. Rwang Dusu thanked the Management team, Staff of the Council and the entire people of the LGA for the support he enjoined from them. He recalled that, their administration came into being on October 10th, 2019. He said, “as a Management team, we have tried to deliver people oriented programs in the interest of the people, looking at the short period we came in, I am happy to say that our administration has done a lot to touch the lives of our people. This administration has carved for itself an image of efficiency, commitment, humility, and good governance through quality service to the people”.

“Furthermore, going by the feedback from our people in the various sectors and communities of the Local Government, we are convinced that, the steps we have taken to ensure prompt and equitable delivery of the dividends of democracy to the people of the Local Government are having the desired impact. The numerous ongoing projects inherited and completed, others initiated by our administration as witnessed by the people have further raised the expectation of our people who have already contributed in no small measure to deliver more dividends by their encouragement and unflinching support to our administration”.

Hon. Dusu said, we have reduced in summary the activities we conducted within the time we held brief in this document I am handing over to the chairman which includes, a bank statement for all financial transactions.

The outgone acting Chairman solicited the people to continue to support the new chairman while promising that, better days are ahead.

The newly appointed Management Committee Chairman Hon. Jock D. Alamba in his response said, today’s ceremony is characterized with mixed feelings due to the death of my younger brother who was already doing his best in delivering dividends of democracy to the people.

“I wish to state here today, that our administration will focused onn improving the living conditions of our people through the implementation of people-oriented programmes. We will always open our doors and explore areas of cooperation to stakeholders and organizations that are interested in moving our Local Government forward”.

“We will continue to pursue people-oriented programmes for the betterment of our people that we are serving. I, therefore, caution individuals who are interested in gossiping about others as a means of survival. I want to call on everyone, with constructive ideas that will move our Local Government forward, not withstanding your tribe or religion”.

“I want to inform you that, His Excellency the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Rt. Hon. Barrister Simon Bako Lalong gave me a charge during the swearing-in, to prioritize; Security, fight against the Coronavirus pandemic as well as make efficient management of the available resources in carrying out people oriented programs”.

“I enjoin you all to continue to give us the best advice to move our Local Government, forward”.- Hon. Jock said.

Goodwill messages were received from the Chairman All Progressives Congress (APC) Barkin-Ladi LGA, an Elder Statesman Da Chief Solomon Bature and the Commissioner Ministry of Science and Technology, Plateau State Hon. Gyang Dung Musa.

In his goodwill message, the Chairman All Progressives Congress (APC) Barkin-Ladi LGA Hon. Gyang Bot described Hon. Jock Alamba as “a good man” and the right person who fit in the shoe left by the late Barrister Ezekiel Mandyau, pointing out that his appointment will revolutionize the entire Barkin-Ladi LGA.

Mr. Bot expressed optimism that the Management Committee chairman will usher in the needed peace and security into the area.

On his part, Elder Da Chief Solomon Bature who spoke on behalf of the elders of the LGA, reinterated the hope and confidence Barkin-Ladi people have in the newly appointed chairman and urged him to adhere to his promise of not entertaining rumor mongers/Gossipers in the name of seeking for survival while reminding Hon. Jock to be the leader he is known for.

In the same vein, a humble personality, the Commissioner for Science and Technology, Hon. Gyang Dung Musa; applauded Governor Simon Bako Lalong for appointing a distinguish man of integrity to administer Barkin-Ladi at a time like this. The commissioner called for team work with the chairman and the stakeholders in the LGA in other to moving Barkin-Ladi to an enviable height.

In his short speech, the commissioner made it clear that, the Governor of Plateau State His Excellency Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong has promised him that; all existing State projects in the LGA will be completed on or before the second quarter of 2021. He therefore cautioned the people against unnecessary opposition to Government and warned those individuals or groups that are bent on factionalizing the party for selfish gains to desist from such act as the party will not tolerate sabbatuers.

The event culminated with prayer session at the chairman’s office by the CAN chairman Barkin-Ladi, who prayed for God’s protection and guidance as the new Chairman stir the ship of the Council.
