It was a fun packed day, at Brainiacs Robotics one-day free training for primary school educators.
A true reflection that any for any significant change to occur in our educational system would require a structured Competence Development Program (CPD) for our teachers. Our educators cannot be left behind while pupils are the only ones getting the after-school enhancement in robotics, coding and so much more.
The Brainiacs one-day Robotics training for primary school teachers and educators featured a wide variety of content in the education technology space. All lined up towards enhancing the capability of teachers to nurture the next generation of technology entrepreneurs.
The morning kicked started with a theme motivational session based on the Google initiative – #IamRemarkable which strives to empower women and underrepresented groups of people to speak openly about their accomplishments in the workplace and beyond, thereby breaking modesty morns and imaginary class ceilings. The session was facilitated by Racheal Inegbedion of ARPG Tech.
Clifford Ajefor, the CEO of 3DSpectrum took the participants into a virtual reality journey where they experienced the real power of virtual reality using the Oculus Go. The participants took a virtual reality journey using the Oculus Go while appreciating how they could use VR tools to encourage learning in the classroom. He also announced an upcoming VR in Classroom for educators holding 8th June at Brainiacs Innovation Hub. Click here to register
The main event for the day featured a Robotics session led by Ajang Madaki (@ajang601) supported by Yetunde Abiodun, Lucky Thompson, and Jonathan Bulus. He took the participants through the basics of using Lego EV-3 as a tool for learning basic science in school. Participants were able to build their robot and programming it from scratch in groups thus deepening their engagement on key skills such as teamwork, collaboration, effective communication and problem-solving. Teachers were able to complete the required worksheet and calculate key parameter from their simulations.
Participants were thanked for coming and showing interest in learning skills that will help improve their ability to deliver a more engaging learning experience in the classroom.
