The May 29 handing over and taking over ceremony will be low key in Plateau State, the state Deputy Governor Prof Sunni Tyoden has said.

He also said the state government would tow the line of the Federal Government in making the event low key.

Tyoden who is the Chairman of the inauguration planning committee disclosed this while briefing newsmen yesterday in government house, Rayfield, Jos.

According to Tyoden, “We chose to do our own low key because it is the incumbent Governor Simon Lalong that is taking over, the Governor is like handing over to himself.

“So, ours in Plateau is just ceremonial in nature, we are not inaugurating a brand new government, it is the same Gov. Lalong, it is the same ruling party APC, and so we feel it’s a government of continuity, there is nothing to celebrate.”

Tyoden, however, said the state would adopt the program of the Federal Government by taking over in low key and take the celebration to June 12 that has been adopted by the federal government as Democracy Day.

However, both events will witness gulf tournament, novelty football match, visit to orphanage homes as well as varieties of shows for youths of the state to show their talents.

Climax of the event will be the unveiling of 2nd term development programs on June 12.
