Estate Intel, an online platform that provides data, news and research for commercial real estate investors, has emerged the top startup at Pitch Storm 2019, thus winning $10,000 in equity-free prize money.
Pitch Storm is an annual startup competition and a core segment of Techpoint Build, an annual startup and SME event hosted by Techpoint Africa.
This year’s edition of Pitch Storm saw impressive startups from countries across West Africa — including Nigeria, Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana and Sierra Leone — take on the Pitch Storm stage.
Over 200 startups applied to participate but only 12 startups got the chance to take the stage today, 26th of January, 2019. In the end, Estate Intel was adjudged the best startup by an independent panel of judges.
Realizing this challenge, while working as a real estate consultant, Dolapo Omidire officially launched Estate Intel in 2017, alongside Damilola Adepoju and Kayode Ola, his co-founders.
“I was doing it for a couple of years as a blog while I was working in real estate but the problem never went away. While doing it as a blog, it developed quite a following and everybody always wanted more information so I just decided to structure it into a web application,” Dolapo told Techpoint
The panel of judges included Tomi Davies of the Lagos Angel Network (LAN), Yele Bademosi, formerly of Microtraction, Damilola Thompson, Senior Corporate Counsel at EchoVC and Maya Horgan, Founder, Ingressive Capital.
