I’M THE YOUTH.

Arise o, com–patriot.
Who are the patriot? —We the youth!
It’s only we the youth they call
and never fail.

We the youth is not a spoken words poetry,
If you are looking for a
sweet, faultless spoken words poetry. Sorry.
Stay away from my mouth today;
It will disappoint you.

Because my hiding scars returned to wounds;
Painfully, stinking my survival
like a horror memories.
My mind became a stage without
script, actors, and audience.
Time to perform its pains and anger.

We are youth and today I am enquiring:
enquiring about these lies —
that we are the leaders of tomorrow.
Leaders of tomorrow!
Which tomorrow?
Is the tomorrow that its light started
since i was age five and till now it’s still not here?
to light my darkness
Is the tomorrow that was hidden in yesterday;
bundled into a journey of no return?
We’ve all have been lied to.

So tonight I am the youth who Is asking…?
if truly, we belong here?
If this Country
These States
These employments
These oils, these schools, this my land carved as my country!
If really it belong to us together?

We are youth who are too young at age 18
To rule our country but are old enough to die
in the military…
We are youth who are too old at age 18 to vote
But are too young to be voted for.
We are youth who are 70% of our country’s
but have no say in the making our country
enslaved only to elect old, wane, thieves and liars.
We are youth.
We are the youth.

We are youth who must bribe to pass our exams.
We are youth who must bribe to get admissions.
We are youth who must bribe to pass interviews.
Who must bribe to get employments?
else, we becomes a chronic failure.
and we need exams, admission, interviews and employment,
like we need the air going through us.
If our making is through these corruption factorit’s,
then how can we pray for corrupt free future?

We are youth who are singing in a bonfire
gathering at rallies,
holding thieves posters and placards
Singing singing thieves praises
knowing that
we are electing those who pockets our future
and spent it like money.
Ask me the youth?.
I will tell you
We are the youth.

We are youth who knew poverty,
even before we know how spell our name.
We are youth who eat corruption,
even before we know it is a poison killing us.
We are youth whose death, pains, cries
Wailing never made the news.
But watches thieves, liars and murderer’s faces as news.
We are youth whom alcohol is made for.
We are youth made for the tomorrow that never comes.
Ask me the youth?.
I will tell you,
We are the youth.

We are youth who trusted Anthony Joshua more
to win a flight than we trust our country
We are youth who trust Barcelona,
Chelsea, Arsenal Manchester United
to win battle than our heart.
Ask me the youth?.
I will tell you
We are the youth.

We are youth whom were program
To believed that in our vain, in our blood
There is no maintenance culture
We are youth who stop learning to be perfect
But schooled to embrace our imperfections
Ask me the youth?.
I will tell you
We are the youth.

We are youth with dreams ahead of us
But we were taught only to kneel down
Before God to seek our solution;
When our mates are inventing their country
Ask me the youth?.
I will tell you
We are the youth.

Don’t ask me who am I going to be tomorrow.
Because there is no tomorrow for me,
I have gone halfway eating my tomorrow
with my silence.
Ask me the youth?.
I will tell you
I am the youth.

I am the youth who is tired of suffering, tired of
Watching my old mother still feeding me after graduation.
Tired of watching my old mothers struggling;
but have hope in tomorrow.
I should feed my parents and make them smile.

I am youth who gathered money, pick up his bag
lost hope and follow the desert
enduringl al the burning sun, burning sand
Mouth dried out of water and food for many days,
entered the Mediterranean sea;
knowing is either death or life.
leaving his life at the mercy of violent storm,
and we are the youth who saw his last moment,
The unhealthy water entering his body without stop
drowning and asking what’s my fault?
Is it a crime to be youth?

I am the youth who’s long gone even though
i stand before you with the hight of iroko tree.
I am the youth who has succeed more with gun
than pen.
I am the you who will likely die at home
than in hospital.
Who die for his country for history
but the history of his country forget how to spell his name
Ask me the youth?.
I will tell you,
I and you are the youth.

I am youth who is tired of listening to these ancient lies,
Because they are not sorry; but
only deemed us foolish enough to forgets,
to forget how they made corruption
to be the only mouth where our prosperity goes in
And out if us?
Ask me the youth?.
I will tell you
I am the youth.

I am youth who has been program to be rich
Only through stealing from his country.
I am youth who has been program to be
Addicted to blood and killing.
I am youth whose restlessness
Is their comforts making machines.

I am youth who cannot marry a beautiful wife
Because my father did not learn the art
of stealing his country’s money.
Because my father has not inherited
nobility and royalty in his blood,
I know this because I am youth.
I am that youth.

I don’t want to be that youth anymore.
Anymore I don’t want to be that youth.
I don’t want to be that youth anymore.
Anymore I don’t want to be that youth.

So I’m not sorry if my poem break your hearts…
If you see nobody but only yourself
In the mirror as the face of corruption,
don’t blame me but your conscience.
Ask me the youth?.
I will tell you it’s me and you
it’s you and you and him and she and she
and him and him
who can make our country better,
only if we didn’t join them.

i am the you who cannot lead at 18, 19, 20
it’s okay, I have accepted my defeat
but now I am calling on the real youth
Age 50, 60, 70, 80 to come have romance
with the war against insurgence
in maiduguri, Zamfara and Jos.
