While the airwaves are saturated with political news towards the 2019 elections. Many are missing out of great development strides in the private sector, especially driven by young Nigerians.

The truth is that building any Business in Nigeria can be very challenging despite the talk shops on ease of doing business. Yet the tough and resilient Nigerian youths are still not giving up, instead they are making efforts and forging forward. Amidst a struggling stock market, which many attribute to the rising tension forced by political gladiators, a group of young Nigerians are defying the odds to launch a new online store called mymechub.com and an E-Commerce support platform called E-Commerce Naija-hub. Both are billed to be unveiled to the public at the Jos Business School, Rayfield Jos.

The Mymechub team is made up of Nancy Oblete (President of Mechub Systems Limited), Diran Adeyemi (CEO of Crown Works Limited) and Victor Prince Dickson (Executive Director of El-spice Media Limited). This is how they captured their visions and plans:

“According to the latest UNCTAD estimates the global E-commerce market is worth around $22.1 trillion. Out of this massive amount, the McKinsey Global Institute projected that E-commerce will be worth $75 billion in Africa’s leading economies by 2025. At the moment, about 40% of Africa’s ECommerce Ventures are located in Nigeria …This is something worth the rubbing of our palms in anticipation.

Although Jumia may be leading the market share in Nigeria, the truth is that the few and available E-commerce platforms cannot cater for the increasing population growth in Nigeria and Africa. We cannot deny the challenges especially in terms of infrastructure but we are also aware that with the right innovation we can surmount the challenges. After all, business is not a tea party; we believe that we can strategically penetrate the market and scale despite existing players and obvious challenges.

Most importantly, we shall be looking more at made-in-Nigeria goods; this is why we also designed a back end to scale participation for all SMEs (products and services) by Nigerians. The E-commerce Naija Hub programmes will in the long run, open and expand market(s) and engage every Nigerian that has value to offer.

Our major focus is to bring ease and support to Start-ups and make the process lean and that goes for even the established brands that are smart enough to take advantage of our Platform.

The programme has been scheduled to hold on the 15th of December 2018.

The E-commerce Naija Hub Summit is an open conference for retailers, brands and other stakeholders as well as Governments.

Retailers, Vendors and Brands will be sharing their knowledge and network with peers. The top trending topics on E-commerce will be widely addressed.

The climax of the event shall be the official unveiling of MYMECHUB.COM and the online store.

The Conference content is exclusive because high-level keynote speakers and leading retailers will be sharing their business cases with you. The Networking opportunities will be massive, through a series of constructive one-to-one meetings and you will receive tailor-made advice on growing your business from experts and experience-based insights from peers.

So you see, we are talking business, technology, markets, products, services, skills and by extension employment creation and National Development in one sitting. And what’s more, it is from JOS.

Finally, it is a fact that Small and Medium-sized Enterprise are very important to the growth of any nation. It is no surprise that developed countries enjoying a growing and booming economy attribute most of their achievements to a flourishing SMEs sector. With what we have structured, we believe that the Nigerian government and private investors will find us worthy of Investment and Support’’
