Netflix announces First African Original Series “Queen Sono” starring Pearl Thusi

Netflix is taking Africa seriously and after acquiring Genevieve Nnaji‘s “Lionheart” they have greenlit their first African original series “Queen Sono.”

The show will star Pearl Thusi as a South African spy who takes on dangerous missions while tackling issues in her personal life.

Thusi, obviously, is excited about the show, telling Deadline:

It’s going to change the game for every artist on this continent. I cannot wait for every young woman, every woman on this continent and on this planet to meet Queen Sono. We’ve worked so hard for this.

The film’s creator, Kagiso Lediga, also shared his enthusiasm, saying that he believes the show will be the first of many on the African continent.
