How do you define poetry?
With words stolen from one of the poem of Jos based poet, Decipher, poetry is like an Ijebu garri, it keeps rising. Some say that poetry is writing that formulates a concentrated imaginative awareness of experience in language chosen and arranged to create a specific emotional response through meaning, sound, and rhythm.
With events like the Guts of Gods, the foundation of poets and creatives in general is becoming much more solid. Whats needed now is more eyeballs and wallets, event organizers can’t keep doing free gigs, it simply won’t sustain itself.
The event was a success, key highlights were performances by Ruddapoet and Decipher, the showing of the short film “RUN” by Awom Kenneth and a trailer release of “Dear Jerome” by Ruddapoet.
